Implantology Year Course - Live Surgery Study Days

Training & Education

One-to-One surgical training is a central component of the UK Implantology Year Course and a GDC requirement for training in implant dentistry.

The GDC require all dentists who train in dental implantology to undergo competency assessed directly supervised clinical training.

To achieve the course's 'Certificate of Competency in Dental Implantology' you will need to successfully treat 3 clinical cases under the supervision of a mentor. You have a choice of three ways in which you can treat your cases:-

1. The Training Centre - you can bring patients to the training centre in Cambridge (Cavendish House Dental Care) on your Surgical Skills Study Days*. When patients are treated at the training centre the rest of the group watch via a live HD audio visual link.

2. Local Mentors - if you have a local colleague who is experienced in dental implantology you can use this colleague as your clinical mentor.**

3. UK Training Centres - you can use one of our 10 UK Accredited Training Centres

You do not need to complete your 3 clinical cases during the course. Delegates have 5 years from the end of the course to complete the cases.

*To encourage your patients to participate they can benefit from greatly reduced treatment costs if treated at the Cambridge training centre on a Surgical Skills Study Day. See patient fees for details.

**All nominated Local Mentors must firstly be accredited by the course to ensure that they have sufficient experience.
